Bill Britt is one of the most well known – yet least accessible business leaders in North America.  He is the leader of the 2^nd largest Amway organization in North America, as well has having one of the most successful MLM organizations world wide.  Elusive, yet persistent in building his business – Bill has developed the envy of millions of would be entrepreneurs – read this third party review for the full scope.  This is written with the intention of helping people in the MLM profession learn from what Bill has done – while progressing in both thought and action towards more advanced and progressive business systems.

Just who is Bill Britt, anyways?  And who cares?

Bill is a former city manager out of Raleigh, North Carolina, who became involved as an independent Amway distributor in the Dexter Yager organization more than 30 years ago.  Immediately after becoming involved, he began to break sales records – and his organization has not slowed down for more than 30 years.  It is estimated that he has somewhere between 2-5 million members of his Amway team, which is larger than any other organization in the history of MLM except for Dexter Yager.  (Bill Britt is part of Dexter’s Group).

When hearing about Bill, the income predictions fly.  I was involved actively as an Amway distributor from 2002-2005, and during this time I travelled to several major events where Bill was a keynote speaker.  I remember hearing people speculate that he makes anywhere from $10 million per year all the way up to $300 million per year.  (As a special note – this is not an income claim, as I have no affiliation whatsoever with Amway – I’m just saying that no one really knows how much he makes – except that it is probably A LOT).

Bill has one of the most loyal followings that I have ever ran into in the world of business.  I went to an event in 2005 called F.E.D. (Free Enterprise Day) where Bill was speaking.  The room applauded when he entered, and silenced while he spoke.  He was revered as an icon by everyone there – almost like I imagine the pharaohs of ancient Egypt were worshiped – it was EXTREMELY interesting to watch from a detached perspective.  I think he talked more about religion and politics than he did about Amway, which didn’t surprise me that much because I had been going to Amway events for 3 years – and they all do that.

Bill Britt built the foundation for his business in the late 1960’s and 1970’s through traditional Network Marketing tactics, including home meetings, hotel briefings, Saturday training events, and weekend Seminar excursions.

He also has developed one of the largest and most profitable personal development companies in the world – each week sending out millions of tapes, books, and training materials to his downline organization.  It is estimated that more than 90% of Bill Britt’s income comes from CDs, books, and seminars, although there is no way to verify this claim other than pure conjecture.

Bill Britt belongs to a world of the past – he preaches a godly government, limited government intervention in our personal lives, family values above all else – and oh, I almost forgot that he occasionally mentions Amway.

In the last 15 years, the business building techniques that the Bill Britt organization has been using for 30 years have started to become antiquated, and as a result the growth of Amway suffered in the United States (Bill has somewhere between 30-50% of the entire Amway organization on his team).  When I was in Amway, the team growth strategy seemed to change every week or two – and as a result it was an EXTREME struggle to grow my business – as I did not have the added advantage of being a distributor for 20 or 30 years.

Bill Britt is truly a phenomenon in the business world – and we should recognize him for his accomplishments as fellow entrepreneurs in Network Marketing.
